name a conference room competition…
// July 16th, 2008 // Megacentre, competition
I know it seems an odd thing to post but I’m currently putting together plans for the new Leeds Megacentre and one of the odd things that needs to be done is to come up with names for our conference suites. Currently in Sheffield Megacentre we have a whole host of famous preachers naming our rooms (ie. Wesley, Booth, Whitfield, Hudson, Houston), but do we do the same or come up with a whole new list of names?
So – I need your help! Currently I need 7 names… so here’s the competition
1) Post your top 7 names in the comments below. You need to stick to a theme so don’t just randomly generate a bunch of names. So name your theme and name your 7.
2) I’ll choose the best 5 themes and we’ll create some kind of poll so you can all vote for the best one!
3) The winner will see their names given to the conference rooms of Leeds mega for all eternity! (What a prize!)
So start thinking and posting!

theme – 7 churches from Revelation!!!!
Ephesus
Smyrna
Pergamum
Thyatira
Sardis
Philadelphia
Laodicea
Perhaps we should name them after something very appropriate to the Leeds congo, TV Series. We could have the 24 suite, CSI suite, Star Trek room, West Wing Executive suite, The Lost room, Prison Break Conference Auditorium and the Simpsons lounge?
I vote
1) Han Solo or the “Solo” suite
2) Luke Skywalker or the “Skywalker” suite (bags as my room!)
3) Chewbacca or the…you get the drift
4) Yoda
5) Darth Vader
6) Princess Leia (keepin it p.c. with the girls)
7) Obi Wan Kenobi or the “Old Ben” suite
–
if that fails then I propose the CTU themed offices
1) Jack Bauer
2) Tony Almeida
3) David Palmer (the good president)
4) Michelle Dessler
5) Chloe O’Brian
6) Kim Bauer
7) Charles Logan (the evil president)
could we even change the mega-centre leeds to “CTU” ??!
–
oh also gotta have some x-men themed rooms (back me up Ed!)
1) Wolverine (imagine how manly you’d feel in that office Chris!)
2) Cyclops
3) Gambit
4) Storm
5) Beast
6) Iceman
7) Magneto
theme: my heroes
The Maclane suite
The Bauer room
The Seagal suite
Tregoning suite
Chan room
The Denham room !!
Hi Chris,
Since the plagues upon Egypt from Exodus wouldn’t be too inviting, what about naming them after places in the Bible?
Canaan
Nazareth
Bethlehem
Egypt
Israel
etc.
(I wouldn’t go for Sodom and Gamorrah, if I were you. People may get the wrong idea about what goes on in there.)
Or,
Noah
Jonah
Abraham
Solomon
David
Ruth
Mary

what about naming it after things related to the building eg.. the archive suite, or the industrial scales suite and so forth – maybe a bit better than but something along those lines
Hi Chris,
I’m thinking when directing people to a conference room or putting a conference room name on a booking form it needs to sound lush, fresh and inviting and I think this set of 7 trees from out Nation does the trick…..
1. Beech
2. Ash
3. Hawthorn
4. Elm
5. Aspen
6. Rowan
7. Sycamore
…..It sounds mint!
Has this been decided yet?
I like the Leeds people idea; keeps it local. Len Hutton has to go on there!
What about naming them after theological terms…
1. The Pneumatology suite
2. The Eschatology room
3. The Soteriology den
4. The Christology haven
5. The Missiology retreat (ironic)
6. The Ecclesiology hideout
7. The Continuationism ward
It’s a great way to exclude people… oh… wait a minute.
We have a great idea for our new build (Burnley) that I cannot reveal until later in the year!
